As of late, Thomas has pretty much been putting himself to sleep. I used to rock him or pace with him a little till he was sleepy or sleeping and then put him down. No more. He appears to be mostly done with me, preferring to snuggle himself to sleep with covers and his pacifier. It is bittersweet for me because while it affords me a few extra minutes in which to tackle other things, it also means my baby is getting bigger and needs or wants me less.
When I laid him down in bed this morning and he appeared to go to sleep, but ended up fussing, I was not even the littlest bit upset. I had gone back down to drink my hot coffee. But I left that coffee on the table to go and enjoy the time that my baby let me rock with him for a few minutes before he was really asleep. Watching my babies (now big boys) sleep has always been one of my favorite things. Even breathing, peaceful faces, little sleeping smiles... you can't get those moments back.
I meet with a group of ladies for Bible study every Monday night. The past two, I have hosted because Thomas and his sleep schedule have been crazy. Good thing he's so cute!
Jackson: Daddy, if it's called Bible study, why do they talk so much?
Lol, we (women) talk about Jesus, God, the Bible!! But yes Jackson, I guess we do talk a lot.
I took the boys to Sea Life Park yesterday. I learned two things:
1. Jackson likes other things better than animals. He likes team sports, kind-of-like-team-sports played in our backyard with the neighborhood kids, or a good park. I think he asked for ice cream or a shark toy every five minutes until we left. The zoo is okay for him because we have a membership, therefore, we can run through all the animals and play at the awesome playground.
There were crazy crowds at Sea Life yesterday because it was a military event. Too many people for Jackson?
2. Max is my visionary guy. He will imagine the day away and just watch all that is going on around him. I have to be super careful not to let him get away from me in a crowd because he is just enthralled with it all. There was a trainer working with the dolphins at Sea Life yesterday and Max and I could have sat there all day and watched them. He wanted ice cream and a toy too, but he was enjoying the time seeing the animals and watching the shows first!
Next time maybe something like that will have to be a Mommy and Max date!
Pictures of our day will follow in some future post.
